'Lil Pitch Records celebrates its first release with the spectacular collaboration between Ether and Pinch, Bristol's dubstep godfather, Tectonic Recordings founder and resident dj at London's Fabric.
Andrea Bracali and Francesco Bigazzi confirm themselves to be among the diamond points of Italy's electronic music scene, developing in a totally original way (their way) already consolidated languages like the ones of idm, abstract hip-hop, downtempo and skwee.
The use of samplers and analogue synthesizers is easily recognizable in the three unreleased tracks that compose side A: three tunes of a unique freshness that give Florence's duo the status of sacred cows for how much concerns silicium sounds forged inside Italy's borders.
Side B is entirely occupied by the remix Pinch has worked on in an impeccable manner, giving the track those distinctive traces that allowed him to spread his music all around the world.
So Beghe (Pinch rmx) turns out to be the ideal bridge between those relaxed/relaxing beats that are typical of Ether and those dark and introspective atmospheres of dubstep, the genre that more than any other has set fire to european clubs during the last decade.

Next Thursday we'll be hosting a special gig with Dj Tom B., straight from Paris!
We must say we have a thing for Brasil, especially Biga who had the pleasure to meet Thomas last year as he exported his own personal selection of brasilian tunes out to the Favela Chic in Paris...
Since then Biga and us were just waiting for the right time to turn that gig around and have Tom B. over here in Florence... so, now, the time has come:

Thomas Bignon aka Tom B is known for spinning Funk, Brazil, Bootlegs, Latin, Afro, Disco, Broken, Live House, Hip Hop, Brazilian and Jamaican Jungle... ! He's been active on Paris' black music scene for over 15 years as an acid jazz bass player, a funk band manager, event organizer and music journalist. Of course as well as being a Dj and founder of the Booty Shakers Crew and the Redo De Suinge, an international network of brasilian spinnin' dj's. He's a Dj resident for the Avenida Brasil parties, the Favela Chic, the Rua Carioca parties as well as official Dj for Paris' Samba schools!! (Zabumba, Aquarela, Sambatuc, Bloco de Paris)

So if you're around you probably don't wanna miss this funky samba sound....

Biga: "2 Sessions Outside, One@Home and Something to Ask..." Mixtape..!!!

"2 Sessioni Fuori,Una in Casa e Qualcosa da Chiederti" is another 'one track mix', full of 60's/70's Psychedelic Rock from many parts of this World (stuff from Peru, Belgium, Chile, Russia, Portugal, Italy etc.) some obscure, some not. You'll find some Pokora titles mixed up with post-rock tracks (or indie as you prefer to call it) from the end of the 90's/beginning of 2000 and some more recent stuff like OBO (Oshinoko Bunker Orchestra) or Pavel Dovgal.
Anyway everything is "handmade", it means hands on vinyl & live mixing, totally uncut stuff, this is the meaning of the title track "2 Sessions Outside, One@Home and Something to Ask..."

Biga: what is a DJ if he can't MIXTAPE!?!

There was a time when the DJ was the collector and the dispenser of acoustical knowledge through the arts of selection and the fine techniques of mixing.... those who distinguished themselves were completely committed ... and always ON point!! ......
This would be true if people like Biga didn't make you realize that there still are many dj's out there that do their homework and have the tendency to deliver..!..
Here we post Biga's 3 last mixtapes that..., straight up and down, you do not want to miss!!
All 3 mixtapes are a fine example of mixing and selection, like a ride that keeps bringing you somewhere new without knowing how you got there.

"El Climatico" features some of Biga's favorite tracks going from salsa to hip hop, to soul and some of those everlasting jazzy-funk tracks that make you wanna thank people like Biga for collecting records. It features tracks from Hector Lavoe, Krs-One, Parliament, Augustus Pablo and Madlib....just to give an idea...
In the words of Biga: "This is 'El Climatico' recorded and mixed by Biga in August 2007. The wonderful art cover is by Mateo Rivano. Many thanks to Bubu, Igor and Joao for the contribution in making it."

While "El Climatico" is more like a "Manifesto" of Biga's Dj-ing in the past years, "Som Barato" and "Bombe Turche" are the result of international DIGGIN'. A real record collector will travel to find his records and to understand what that particular music is all about. Getting down with the people that particular music was made for is the best way to understand a particular groove and that's exactly what Biga has done.

"Som Barato" is a mix of some crazy brazilian tunes that go deep into Brazil's musical culture bypassing the well known Verve bossa nova's to reach the samba, the ballads... the people's choice: a "Cheap Sound"! Needless to say there's nothing cheap about it, besides the fact that you get to download for FREE!!!
As for "El Climatico" the insane artwork is by Mateo Rivano!

"Nar Suyu Portakal Suyu a.k.a. Bombe Turche" ("Turkish Bombs") brings us to the proud country of Turkey. The turkish musical industry is huge and Biga has here selected Strictly 7"s of Turkish Funk, Folk and Psychedelic Breaks.
A little somethin' for those that have heard everything.. ;)
