"Colossius bends music genres as he he sees fit, yet keeps his unmistakable touch full of silicon drum machines, clinically cut samples and old analog synths. The set start out with a true hymn of the district where he come from: “Isol8″ that mixes hip-hop’s golden age with chicago juke and an unlikely Japanese rap. Then it’s time for “Volverine” with a rolling funk groove and little commodore styled voices. Next up is “Viale Ready” with its skwee bass, hi hat in triplets and stabs it projects you directly into the UK rave 90′s scene. If the first part of the ‘e.p. is characterized by areas of soft light, in the second part we dive into a tunnel to a whirl of dark, hypnotic bass. Overknights' Millelemmi & Jaja will perform live rap and skratches with the drummer Stefano "Tambo" Tamborrino. The trio will play skratched loops, mad drum grooves and ill lirycs at Nottefiorentina in Borgo S. Frediano 17 rosso.
Next Saturday (March 3rd 2011) we'll be hosting a gig with the mighty MC/DJ/Producer DreLove!! He can be considered the american backbone in italian hip hop, the link between Italy and New York...as he contributed, especially as an mc, to many tracks and albums that would later become some of the most appreciated joints in italian hip hop history. Check out the stuff he did with 'Radical Stuff', 'Neffa e i 107 elementi', 'Almamegretta', 'Saweshi'.... Lately he's been mostly active with his funk band 'DreLove & The White Niggaz' and is about to deliver his solo album produced along with drummer/beatmaker DRUMZ... DreLove's work has been inspirational for many artists out here in Italy throughout the years, and to us he's a friend and mentor, so you know we're bound to get down!! We must say we have a thing for Brasil, especially Biga who had the pleasure to meet Thomas last year as he exported his own personal selection of brasilian tunes out to the Favela Chic in Paris... Thomas Bignon aka Tom B is known for spinning Funk, Brazil, Bootlegs, Latin, Afro, Disco, Broken, Live House, Hip Hop, Brazilian and Jamaican Jungle... ! He's been active on Paris' black music scene for over 15 years as an acid jazz bass player, a funk band manager, event organizer and music journalist. Of course as well as being a Dj and founder of the Booty Shakers Crew and the Redo De Suinge, an international network of brasilian spinnin' dj's. He's a Dj resident for the Avenida Brasil parties, the Favela Chic, the Rua Carioca parties as well as official Dj for Paris' Samba schools!! (Zabumba, Aquarela, Sambatuc, Bloco de Paris)

Phonemes and meanings are elegantly used and abused just as new music is created from used and abused synths, records or toys all fused into a very personal, original and yet familiar way. All homemade mostly with his MPC and MIC and with a little bit of help from his friends Franco Crudo and Jaja with the appropriate scrathing and Simone Zaccagnini with the appropriate artwork. This is one of those albums where you'd like to thank the inventor of the "skip back" button on your player, whether you're exploring the layers of meaning of words or the puzzle shaped sounds... In other words..if you have ears you must have this album and that's where it gets easy: it's FREE!!

Here's some music from a non-musician! Lo Zac or Low'N'Zak, better known as Simone Zaccagnini, he's actually a visual/drawing artist. His work is all handmade and when his eyes are tired he boots up his old pc and starts messin with samples on an old version of Cubase Sx.. Well the result is right in front of your ears, so play the player and if you dig.. go ahead with the download button cause, yes..."Free'P'Hop" is all free!!

Manuele Atzeni's second album comes straight out of his room (as you can see) appearing as the first release for hometown's newborn Woobo Records!! As we live in a material world, my friends, not all can be free. But luckily, sometimes we're able to give things a decent price and give you the possibility to give us some means and encouragement (at the least!) in order to continue to make music. Overknights is a collective of dj's, producers, mc's and one drawer based in Florence, Italy.
A group of ten with common tastes and different styles, as well as a variety of musical backgrounds, ranging from hip hop, jazz and punk, to techno and many other genres of 'electronic' music. Their particular 'sound' lies between the different styles found throughout individual productions as well as many internal projects and collabo's.
The result is a mist of hip hop, funk and wonky/skwee.
